Have removed and re-installed drivers for the adaptor (several times) The jack in the laptop itself looks viable - no bent pins, loose connections etc Next thoughts were dodgy onboard LAN adaptor but I can ping the local host without any problems. I'm in the process of testing an old XP Pro laptop (Dell Inspiron 2650) which is constantly showing that the network cable is unplugged against the LAN connection, even though it isn't.įirst thoughts were obviously cable / connectivity, but have tried with several cables on different ports on the switch, all of which have been tested OK with another laptop. They need computers next week so I'm scrabbling around to see what we can offer them form the stock in the server room in the meantime. We're supposed to be donating some old 'puters to a local charity but we've fallen behind in our refresh program. Sometimes it's the small things which drive you up the wall.
